Ileana’s storytelling focuses on the complexities and diversities of characters to reveal truths in human interactions. Vasquez's work reveals her background in fine arts, experimental and improvisational theater and employs cutting-edge techniques and perspectives to create a surrealist balance with the emotion of a story. Ileana is influenced by Kubrick, Buneul, Cocteau, Tarkovsky, del Toro, Truffaut, Inarritu, Malick, Hitchcock, Nolan, Cassavetes and Chytlalova (Czech New Wave).
Ileana holds a BFA from UCLA and is trilingual and a half. A self-taught filmmaker, she has also studied acting in Paris, experimental theater in Los Angeles under Rachel Rosenthal and is an exhibited photographer. She has participated in Women In Film, Los Angeles programs under the mentorship of Mark Ordesky and Jane Fleming, shadowed director Betty Thomas on the set of Grace and Frankie and interned with Producer Stanley Kramer.
In 2021, Ileana participated in Sundance Institute’s Sundance Collab Directors Lab where she workshopped her feature project, ‘Perfidious’.
Ileana has been awarded a Bronze Telly and Gold Aurorafor for writing/directing a Women In Film, Los Angeles PSA distributed by CBS and co-produced in collaboration with Women in Film, Los Angeles in association with LolitaMoon Productions. She has received an Accolade Award for executive producing. Ileana also wrote, directed, and produced the short film, A New Yorker @Paris, filmed entirely in Paris with support from IFP, Paris Film
and sponsors such as Christian Dior and Vanessa Bruno (presently in post).
Ileana is also a 2023 HUSSLUP Ambassador.
